Football is like chess.
Also a game of field position, clock management.
Risk vs Reward.
Could easily lose a game by going for it on 4th and inches on your own 25 hardline vs. live to play another series.
Football is the ultimate game of strAtegy.
That’s what’s so appealing.
Don’t get me started on the scoring system of 6 points for td 3 for fg 2 for safety 1 vs 2 points for extra points. Whoever designed this game was an absolute genius

I get it but the odds of getting a 4th and less then a yard with a qb sneek has to be about 95 percent,plus for god sakes the punter has to see a wide open hole sometimes,i swear on some of these punts the recieving team is just blocking and rosie o donell could run for a first down.

It's a game of possessions and field position.

You can't win if you give away possession AND field position, but you can win taking away possessions and field position.

There are many revolutionary coaches in the sport and all they have done to mitigate that decision is craft strategy to avoid 4th and inches by increased passing, passing as running, wild card, run pass option, etc....

But no-one will give away position and possessions unless it's desperation.
