You have Gophers -9.5 for the game. They are up 13 points with 10:41 left but Alabama only has 3 players left. The whole bench ejected another guy fouled out and one injured. Not to mention Minnesota one of the best teams in the country and they get outscored by 8 pts by a 3 player team unreal.

A few guys who got a bad number probably layed 5 points and pushed for the game.

Then on defense, they did try to double Sexton a few times but he'd dribble around them and create a shot.

It was 83-80 in the final minute and Sexton had the ball.

There's no way it should have ever been that close if Minnesota had kept trying. But they completely gave up.

The fighting gets started around the 1:30 mark.

Bunch of dumb thugs play on Alabama and Minnesota? Ridiculous.

5 on 3 for 10+ minutes... and Minnesota couldn't cover?

Down double digits and played over 9 minutes with 3 players and only lost by 5, what a team.

I think it was more of being too "sportsmanlike" in not running the score up playing 5 on 3. They took it to an extreme by essentially quitting. Minnesota could have very easily kept 1 guy at the other end of the court cherry picking, and defended 4 on 3 and blew them out. They could have pressed them and took quick shots on offense and blew them out that way too. Instead, they almost tried to not run the score up on them by bleeding the shot clock every possession, and in the process ended up getting outscored themselves.

If you had Lebron/Durant/Curry playing 3 on 5 vs a college team like Minnesota, I'd still expect Minnesota to win if they tried their hardest.

Avery Johnson large cajones and he don’t budge.
