I've never understood it but everyone says not to bet bad lines. Someone sucks at their job, not my fault. Don't hang bad lines.....

but either way, you probably wont get paid if you win, and less if you lose.....so it's not worth it

        This

Betting a line you know is not right, never good, one way or the other.

        My guess is "no action"

Well betting bad lines is worthless for a player. A book can just wait to see if it wins and cancel the bet or wait until it loses and keep your money. So what is the point about trying to scumbag the book? You are basically giving the book a freeplay on your money.

I honestly think that books do this from time to time to find out who the scumbags are. That way if anything happens down the road it is an easy way for them to shut the account down and keep the funds. In a world where the offshore booking has become a bit unsettling why would you want to give those shops incentive to fuk you over?

Generally what happens is that the book gets to free roll on you.

I agree with Jay above, if somebody puts up a bad line, it isn’t my fault. Now, would I do it to a local that I have a relationship with? Never. Would I do it if it was a MAJOR mistake? Never...you won’t get paid. But every once in a while I seed a line that doesn’t quite match, and I am not above placing a wager there.

NOTE: we as bettors also make mistakes. Last spring I bet $1500 on an NHL under, cheered the under the entire game and the game was a 2-0 final. Yay me!

Except that I had accidentally bet the over. I can assure you, that book was not about to help me with my mistake.

5dimes has helped me with a few bets too so, yea totally understood.
