Nah. It started with some variance then I tilted some, my form is coming back. Still up 47.635 units since I started a few months ago.

Horrid skid the last couple weeks, but did learn a lot.

Good questions, Chuckythegoat.

Tournaments are fun enough but the variance is such that I don't consider myself a person with time for them, at least for now. I'd hate to put 6 hours into a tournament and bust out when I could have been putting in a productive cash session. When I am more deeply rolled I could see myself feeling differently. Many follow such a path.

No limit only for me, enough people catch their draws against me while putting their entire stack in the middle to do it and I don't need people being able to do that without having to pay the full amount to do it. No Omaha because I suck at it.

That being said I play only cash games for now. There are many trends that one would think would be common sense in theory that many get away from when actually at the casino. Opponent selection is huge as is my kok. Who are the "nits"? Who are the fish? You should know after a short while at the table who you're looking to get into a hand with. For instance - If you raise with your pocket aces and the flop comes say K410, you C Bet and a reraise is fired back at you, if it's a nit you're going to want to think twice about shoving because he likely has a set. If it's the fish they likely have top pair or similar. So, opponent observation is huge. Anyone can sit down, wait for KK, AA and sets but you have to know who you would be playing what way later in a hand.

People go on tilt, and it's real. On Saturday an opponent at my table lost what looked to be roughly $1,400 in what couldn't have been more than an hour or so. It started as one hand where he was outplayed and then it continued, I could tell he was a guy who has money and wanted to get even to make himself feel better. I called him down with KA and a K on board for all of my stack and vs many of the nits I wouldn't have done that.

Opponent selection is huge and venue selection, for that matter. On a table with what you feel are all tight players? For me that's when I switch tables. Are a lot of people being loud at another table because there's a lot of action? Myself I chase tables/opportunities like that. I know some sharks that don't like games like that but personally I live for them.

Get used to learning people's habits; players are more or less creatures of habits, be it good ones or bad ones. I can tell you opponents whose c-bet will be an auto all in, so you flop a set against them and double up; you don't flop at least two pair and you're out. I can tell you opponents that when they push all in it actually means that they have the set - a surprisingly effective move that I have seen some use, I haven't done so because I'm always thinking value when I feel that I have "it". I can tell you opponents that treat their flush draw like it's the nuts and will put their entire stack in every time to see all the cards, in fact this seems to be pretty trendy on 1/2 games recently.

There are stereotypes. If a girl/woman sits down I don't expect them to be good. If a guy sits down with his girlfriend there, I don't expect them to be good. If it's an old man that looks like a nit, well then I expect him to be a nit. Obviously there's exceptions to every rule.

Maximizing opportunity is essential both with observing opponents and if a venue you like has "high hands" (say you get $500 every half hour during certain set hours) then make sure you play as many hours as possible between those hours. Personally I bring a diaper and put it on right when those periods start so if I have to go I don't miss a hand. This has increased my ROI.

Stevie, here's my comment on Poker Tournaments in current market. I think demand is going down:

1) I see more Online tournaments cancelled, b/c Minimum # (entrants) not met.
2) Talent level is very similar. How do u differentiate yourself? Hard to do (unless opponent is a donkey).
3) Players now more aware of Fees. The better players just aren't going to pay a Fee > 10%. Tourneys w/ Fees approaching 30% are going to get fewer + fewer entrants.
