All the long throwing gunslingers from College are the masters of throwing the ball 2 yards in the NFL. Doesn't make any sense.

The Deep Bomb, The reverse, double reverse, flea flicker, and halfback pass have been taken away from the game by defensive speed and the lack of ability to execute these moves on video games.

IMO, it's because the majority of college teams run the read option offense or some variation of it which focuses primarily on the QB's ability to run the football, not throw it...you don't see too many traditional NFL style offenses in college anymore...it's also another reason why QB play has been rather sub par and declined in the last several years or so at both the collegiate and pro levels because that style doesn't translate to the Pro level very well...also a good number of teams run the "west coast" style offense which preditcates itself on the short passing game and getting the ball to your playmakers hands as soon as possible...and don't forget in the NFL, a lot of defenses are running the 3-4 scheme which means you have ultra fast linebackers coming at you from every direction instead of the traditional 4 -3 scheme which focused on dominating D-line play and the ability to rush the passer with your front four instead of having to blitz all the time in order to get to the QB.

NFL has placed all its chips on the pass to try to have high scoring games and now DBs are the best athletes on the field. I don't know how these teams do not score every single drive with the rules in effect now. But defenses have had to adapt to such a degree that offenses now cannot move the ball even with the rules slanted heavily in their favor. They dink it because that is the only way to complete a pass with the lousy QBs and terrific DBs.

I notice a pattern from the old qbs to the need style. Older qbs were taller, thicker an definitely put more time into there arm/passing game than their legs whereas now they are often slightly shorter, lighter qbs who try balancing out quick passes or rushes equally. When they do this is causes them to have less arm strength to throw the deep ball than older qbs and the height difference makes it harder for shorter qbs to be able to throw deep passes due to their line of site.
