Mine was Super Bowl XVI - with a priest. I was 11 ... and won.
Anyone remember the very first bet they ever made?

I use to bet with friends and locals but my first official bet was at Slots a Fun in Vegas. I was 13 or 14 years old and they didn't ID back then. I played craps and blackjack with my dad. They use to have a very long crap table right at the front of the building (may have stuck outside a bit). Hard slate and the dice would fly off the table. I learned how to play nickel craps on that table and once you learn nickels, you really learn odds of craps. They use to give out free popcorn (I wanna say free ice cream too?). We use to stay at the Riviera or the Sahara across the street. I can remember it like yesterday. Great times.Comment -

#6At my Church's Christmas festival when I was little, they use to have that wheel where each spot would would have 3 sides of a die. You would put your money down on a spot 1 through 6 and depending if what the wheel landed on had 0,1,2, or 3 of your number you would get paid out something. That was fun.Comment -

#8Yes I was 8 years old and in 3rd grade. I bet on the Cowboys against the Redskins and I won. The chump tried to stiff me on the $10 so I whipped his ASS 3 days in a row and he paid me on the 4th day.Comment -

#10That sounds like an arcade I took my kids to in Florida a few weeks ago. They spent a shitload of money to play all these silly arcade games and would get tokens to by cheap stuff that I could have bought them in the first place. $200 bucks for them to buy slinkies, cheap stuffed animals and candy. They thought they hit the lottery.
It was this one. It was for real cash money too and not prizes or tickets.Comment -

#11Tough question to answer. I'd have to pin it down:
* Bet by proxy. Horses at Churchill Down, w/ my dad making proxy-bet.
* Sports bet. I surely made small wager w/ Hi-school friends.
* Blackjack (once I was beyond 18). Local Indian Casino + then on Vegas trip.
I had to go back + look at the Old school map of North Strip. Here was hang-out area:
I knew that I stayed in Stardust, w/ the great sportsbook. If u walk north, b4 u got to Circus Circus, there was Slots-A-Fun.Where's the fuckin power box, Carol?Comment -

#12I recall Slots-A-Fun being a small shop w/ low-limits + cheap food. The cheap hot-dogs + I want to say 99-cent Shrimp Cocktail, which used to be a Vegas special.
The place I had to remember on that map was Silver City. Across street from Stardust, they had good blackjack. Played 21 + drank Zima there. Fun times.Where's the fuckin power box, Carol?Comment -

I would stay at the Sahara or Riviera when they were considered... "Nice". I had so much comp at those hotels that they would kick people out to let me stay back then. One time there was a Comdex convention where every hotel room in Vegas was booked. The Riviera had nothing but some temporary room, so I took it. It was a little bigger than a broom closet. It was next to a loud service elevator. I still can't believe they gave that shit too me.
The Sahara had the best steak house in the city. It use to be awesome. They had some huge suites too. I once had a suite way back in the hotel that was almost the entire floor. It had 2 grand pianos in it and a sunken hot tub although it was very dated. I loved that place until they went to $1 blackjack.Comment -

#16I don't think any casino on the strip or downtown had as low limits as SlotsAFun. Loved the hot dogs and I remember the shrimp. I use to play at Circus City, Stardust, Silver City, Barbary Coast. All the dives on the strip. haha.

I have also spent a good bit of time Downtown. A few notes
* Stayed at Golden Nugget for recent birthday stay. Wow, that is a nice hotel. I luck-boxed into getting a suite-upgrade. Great pool w/ the aquarium. Excellent variety of restaurants.
* Few years back, I found a $10 room at Golden Gate. FWIW, the great breakfast-restaurant moved out some months back.
* Used to play 21 at El Cortez. Known as "The Sweaty Spaniard", in the industry. Amazing, those pit-bosses haven't changed in 25 years. If u get any heat, it's from the same four middle-aged men. If the pit-boss is a woman, great, they'll let me play.Where's the fuckin power box, Carol?Comment -

In the Ram/Patriot game, I heard the Boston locals were inundated w/ Pat moneyline action. Boston locals were offering Pats +500 and were very sided w/ that action. Pats win, and locals realize that their liability is massive. They wind up paying out 2/1 instead of 5/1 to clear the balance. Heard that from some of my Boston-area friends.Where's the fuckin power box, Carol?Comment -

#26Not a clue. Parlay card when young. Definitely a Saturday noon game though. Possibly Purdue. Used to always take those fools for some reason. Used to break so many remotes. First hole in the wall though was Vick and the Falcons beating GB. Damn. I was born crazy.Comment -

#28Glad someone hit it. I don't think I've ever been more pissed during, and after a game. It was like video game Vick. He couldn't be stopped. Granted, I was younger and angry. I think I lost like damn $5, and it pissed me off more than losing thousands nowadays. His numbers weren't great, but he just made the damn play when needed.Comment -

#30Prolines growing up maybe in Grade 3 or 4. My dad used to give $10 every Sunday, and I'd put together a bunch of 4-6 teamers for $2 or $3 a piece. I do remember my dad hitting one for nearly 10k if I recall right. He picked 5 of 6 ties, which is a game finishing 3 points or less and maybe dropped $10 or $20 on it, can't quite remember.Comment -
