At least this thing wasn't as big of a circus as it could have been. Mac fought the one of the greatest of all time and held his own for nearly 10 rounds.

I don't think Floyd really prepared much for this fight. I've never seen him get hit that much in his entire career (granted I didn't see a lot of the fight). I think he did it on purpose to try and make things interesting and also test Conor's power. Floyd usually throws the quick jabs to size you up and control the fight. I'll have to see the fight in detail but I don't think he threw many jabs. I didn't see Floyd's hand speed tonight but against Canelo he was lightning quick. Put Floyd against Canelo tomorrow and Canelo still won't be able to hit him.Comment -

Agreed Floyd probably didn't prepare as much as he usually does for prize fights.. Still at 40 the reflexes can slow, chin can begin to turn to glass.. We see this alot in MMA, boxing is no different.. You see less of the punches coming and you do get hit more with 40 year old aged fighters..

They are saying on espn its possible to book a Connor/Pauli Malignaggi. I think Conor can make 5- 10 million which aint chump change compared to mma money. They are already selling the drama. I agree. Father time is undefeated but Floyd has never taken any punishment like most every other boxer. He has never done drugs or drink or do crazy stuff to his body. He has always been in epic shape. I saw his workout a few weeks ago and it was business as usual. He has a lot of miles on his body, so I think he could fight another 3 - 5 years but does he want to? He keeps saying he's done but someone is going to throw him ridiculous money and he'll have to take it IMO.Comment -

It would be interesting. The tough part about transitioning from boxing to mma is there is so much more to focus on i.e. Ground game (top, bottom, subs, sub defense, etc), take down defense, and so forth
What made Conor semi competitive tonight is that boxing is a 950051081vbig part of his fighting game and has been for 5-6 years. Floyd has never implemented ground training into his camps nor trained seriously.
With that said, I'd be more interested in Floyd fighting MMA I was with Conor boxing. If Floyd caught anyone flush with 4oz gloves, it would be good night.

It looked like McGregor was pretty much intent on taking that away. With his reach which Floyd hardly ever gives up Mac just kind of kept his right extended smothering that jab. Fight didn't go at all like I expected. Mac's power didn't translate to the boxing ring, but he made Floyd miss pretty easily a lot of the time. I'm sure Floyd did have the gameplan to take his time and let Mac tire out, but there was no way whiffing several punches at a time was part of that gameplanComment -

It was, can't lie. I basically called it, and get to say I told you so to anyone who thought Conor had a chance. Did enjoy the guy whose scorecard they put up, which made it seem close. Have people telling me see, that judge has it even. Yeeeeeah, he wasn't a judge. Conor barely won a round but those hits to Floyd's gloves sure were loud, and sounded like he had a chance. Floyd could have run a mile, came back, and still won. Some people think it was called early. Should have been a TKO in the 9th, but the ref was giving Conor constant chances to save face. Alright, he can have two. I just found it hilarious when they put their armchair judge's scorecard up that Conor won the first three. Conor would throw 15, while Floyd would hit him with 5 that were actual power punches. Anyway, I haven't looked at numbers. Just saw a man completely overmatched get beat up. I don't fault him. Pauli isn't a big enough name to sell a boxing match with Conor. I think, and it'll never happen so it's just me bs'ing, but if you want to make boxing great again and even MMA better, than have matches where there is no weight classes.
Just for the spectacle of it all, I'd like to see a boxing match between Floyd Mayweather and Mike Tyson (in his prime). There'd be about a 70 pound weight difference, but I''d want to know what would happen. Would the first punches Floyd took from Tyson completely wreck him? Or would Floyd be able to stay in the fight thru his boxing skill and outpoint Tyson?
Likewise, what would happen of Conor McGregor fought Michael Bisping in the cage? Would it be as simple as the bigger guy getting on top of the little guy and beating the shit out of him?

It was a good fight, i'm just glad it's over. As a real boxing fan, this match only put on for entertainment purposes. Floyd wouldn't be undefeated if he fought the top guys like Crawford or Thurman.
