The contracts they gave Zobrist and Heyward were ridiculous and they didn't have money for Fowler, the pitching isn't good either. The sad part is St. Louis did nothing at the trade deadline to improve the offense so they will still probably win division.

Zobrist helped the Cubs win the WS last season. He won the WS MVP. Anything more is gravy. His contract was definitely not ridiculous.

Zobrist sucked the second half of the year last year and he hasn't been much better this year. He signed a four year deal, 6 months of good performance on a 4 year deal sucks, the contact is ass and the team is mediocre at best. Fowler should have been resigned, he's been great except for first month. Zobrist is 34., you don't give people that age multiyear contracts, look at what is happening across the league with Verlander, Holliday in St. louis at the end, and in many other instances.
