It's bullshit. Players already Adhere to many stupid contract stipulations ...
Don't do this, don't go there, don't sign this, don't eat that....don't say that.

I get that the owners are spending a shit ton of cash on these guys but at what point are you infringing on a person's rights as an employer?

      At any wage.

I'd assume no exceptions. Would set an awful precedent to allow player to violate decision simply because his team owner OKs it.

Olympic commission screwed up by allowing pros
to compete in the first place. 20 years since we
          saw real national amateur hockey.

i too wish they were at the olympics, but i dont think what your saying applies here. if they were refusing to let them play in an offseason tourney, i would agree. but they arent allowing them to play a tourney that is happening the same time nhl games are played, i dont see how that would be infriging their rights. they are paying them to play those games

Would be silly to board the plane because player would not be allowed to play no matter how much he cries for it + fines and suspension for both player and team.

Good. Let the amateurs play. Should be same for NBA as well. Tired of seeing pros play in an amateur tournament. Why should a pro sports owner risk losing their franchise player to injury?

The Olympics haven't been an amateur tournament in decades.
