I like this move. Hard to see them not winning the NL -- Nats are only real threat, I think

Yeah good move - don't see the Gray move as moving the needle - he's a 4 ERA pitcher on the road and likely will be lucky to have an ERA below that at Yankee stadium, Fenway, or Camden.

I wonder how long it's been since Darvish has batted?

Yeah, I forgot about that. According to Baseball Reference, he had 14 total plate appearances in 2012-16. None this year.

It used to be fun to watch Interleague, but now we know it was mostly because of its scarcity.

                          Almost but not quite
very close , but the supremacy reigns more for Warriors in NBA
because talent of having a elite starting 5 in NBA for
48 minutes outweighs the starters in MLB
pits just because the way the sports are played
In basketball your star players can touch the ball each play
but in baseball you gotta wait your turn , even on defense you
gotta hope the ball is hit to your one small space on the field

The way Taylor and Bellinger are playing on this already stacked team
is still not fair for the league , now to add the one thing they needed, another starter
and it being Darvish made me roll my eyes as a diehard Cardinal fan

still think Cards beat Dodgers in first round then
Cards over the Patriots to win the Stanley Cup

If the Dodgers don't win it all this year I'm going to start to believe that they'll never win one with this current group. They've got it all great offense, outstanding starting pitching and lights out bullpen. I hate the Dodgers with a passion being a Giants fan but they're locked and loaded this year.

Sunday was a special day in the career of Texas Rangers third baseman Adrian Beltre, who reached the 3,000-hit mark in a 10-6 loss to the Baltimore Orioles. That joy was tempered some the following day, as starting pitcher Yu Darvish was traded to the Los Angeles Dodgers.

When asked for his feelings on the move ahead of Tuesday’s loss to the Seattle Mariners, Beltre expressed his displeasure with the Rangers’ decision to trade the team’s ace.

“We’re not pleased with the trade,” Beltre said according to the Dallas Morning News. “I don’t think we are completely sold on the situation being [hopeless] for this year. It was a tough a situation. I know he’s going to be a free agent and they were trying to get something. I try to understand the business side of it and I understand what they are doing, but on the baseball side you are not happy. That doesn’t matter. That’s not going to change our mentality.”

“Yes, it absolutely would change my mind,” Beltre said Tuesday. “At this stage of my career, I’m not here for a rebuild. But I don’t think it will be. I think there is a possibility of this team playing better this year. I’m still focused on this year and don’t want to think about it right now, but it would change things for me.”

This was a monster pick up for the Dodgers.. I think they win it all now.. With Kershaw healthy they will arguably have the best pitching staff in the majors.. Blue crews bats can also dial it up...

Dodgers on a 9 game win streak now.. Probably gonna be 10 after today.. They are rolling now even without Kershaw......

With Darvish on to the next chapter of his professional career, the Rangers took out an ad in Yomiuri Shimbun, a Japanese newspaper, to thank him for his time with the franchise.

The Dodgers will place Yu Darvish on the 10-day DL with nagging back tightness, manager Dave Roberts said Saturday.

Lefty Edward Paredes has joined the team to fill the roster spot.
Darish is expected to return and start at home against the Brewers next Sunday.

The Brewers have made an official contract offer to Yu Darvish, according to reports from Yahoo Japan (hat tip to Kazuto Yamazaki for the translation). Interestingly, the original link was retweeted by Darvish himself, whose response of a thinking-face emoji could be interpreted in a few different ways.

Darvish’s list of suitors had reportedly narrowed to a field of six teams: the Astros, Cubs, Rangers, Twins, Yankees, and an unknown sixth club referenced by Darvish in another tweet. There was speculation that the sixth team could’ve been the Dodgers, Darvish’s most recent club, though perhaps the Brewers were the mystery team, depending on the timing of their offer.

Or, it also isn’t out of the question that Milwaukee has just entered the race for Darvish’s services, perhaps sensing an opening in the Darvish sweepstakes. MLBTR projected Darvish for a six-year, $160MM contract at the start of the offseason, and it’s fair to wonder if the Brewers’ offer was anywhere near that figure given the uncertainty surrounding Darvish’s market. The Astros, for instance, are likely no longer bidding for another top starter now that they’ve landed Gerrit Cole. The Yankees, Dodgers, Cubs, and Rangers were all either hoping to avoid the luxury tax threshold or simply weren’t keen on committing the payroll space required to sign Darvish. With all of these teams somewhat hamstrung in their pursuit of the star right-hander, the Brewers could well have liked their chances in a bidding war against a fellow smaller-market team in Minnesota.

The idea of the Brewers and Twins dueling for top pitchers this offseason was actually posited by MLBTR’s Steve Adams back in early November, with Steve reasoning that both teams had the rotation needs, the long-term payroll room, and a revived hope of contention in 2018 to make the pursuit of a pitcher like Darvish or Jake Arrieta into a reality. Despite some rumors about potential big-ticket signings or trade targets (i.e. Chris Archer), the Brewers have thus far made more modest pitching acquisitions in the form of Jhoulys Chacin and Yovani Gallardo. Milwaukee has also been rumored to be discussing outfielders in trades, perhaps to make another surprising free agent splash in the form of pursuing Lorenzo Cain.
