Nobody I know anymore actually sits and watches a full
baseball game until the playoffs. Even then, most barely
pay attention.
Those who do are only interested in their childhood teams,
the ones their family brought them up on.
Local sports talk radio is more about politics and other sports
than it is about baseball because nobody cares.
People who sit in stadiums are preoccuplied with their smartphones.
They are more interested in tweets and instragrams than the next pitch,
unless there's something really going on in the game, which in baseball
is about 4% of the time.
As gamblers, this time of year is very boring. Soccer is the ever-present,
also unwatchable and totally unpopular boring bet. Tennis has a couple
majors, but it's a fringe game. We should have a BIG SPORT to challenge
baseball for popularity. Something exciting and new.
