Who knows what team Lebron would be on and what players they would add - who knows what seed these teams would be with all of resting starters do - it certainly is foreseeable Lebron could see Golden State in the second round if he was the four seed or its was a 2-3 matchup.

it's not even close to foreseeable that lebron would be on a 4 seed... at this point he's not going to a team unless they're already stacked

Yeah do you not notice that Lebron does not care about the regular season - and his team wouldn't be the only one that is stacked. The regular season in the NBA means nothing - with resting starters and guys not giving much effort who knows what the seeding would be.

And yet the last 12 teams in the finals have been 1 or 2 seeds. #1 seeds have won 5 straight finals and 8 out of last 10. If you are not a top 4 team in reg season you are not sniffing finals. A seed outside the top 4 hasn't made the finals since the 90's. So how does it mean nothing. Regular season means plenty.

The fact that most teams that win the title are top seeds does not mean the regular season matters - many teams that win in the finals do not have home court advantage. Cleveland was .500 after the all-star break and still almost got the #1 seed. The NBA is top heavy right now so even if you don't care about the regular season its very easy to finish with a top 4 or 5 seed - the Boston Celtics were the #1 seed this past year and they would have been swept by the Bulls if not for the Rondo injury. The Rockets and Celtics were consistently 4 and 5 seeds. The Bulls with Jordan did not have home court advantage in the finals twice and once in the eastern conference finals against the Knicks. Seeding means nothing in the NBA - the best teams can all win on the road - the reason the NBA champion is usually a top 4 or 5 seed is because there is not enough talent for 32 teams and their are a number of super teams.

No, the NBA champion is virtually always a 1 or 2 seed. Because the best teams are 1 or 2 seeds and (unlike in other sports) one of the best teams always wins in the NBA. The regular season matters because it tells you who the best teams are and hence who the winners will be.

Who sad anything about home advantage. That doesn't matter. The 1's and 2's aren't winning because of home court, they're winning because they are the best teams. What matters is that the best teams win the most regular season games and those same best teams win in the playoffs. Maybe it's a 1 seed, maybe a 2 seed. But the teams that win the most in the regular season also win in the postseason, with rare exceptions. Nobody is coasting in with a 6 or 7 seed and then turning it on. Doesn't happen. It's unlike MLB and NFL where any team that makes the postseason from any spot could catch fire and win. Much more wide open.

He's made a shitload of money. The difference between 2.1 or 5 mil on shitty team is nothing. To his credit, he's betting on himself getting exposure on a good team.

Again, do you not watch the NBA this year - Cleveland was .500 the second half of the year - Cleveland didn't even play well enough the second half of the season to get 6 or 7 seed if not for how well they played in the first half of the year.
