Lakes have blown two 10 point plus leads. Celtics now up 3. Need to get ball back in the game.

OMG. Lakers miss open layup. Celtics bank in lucky buzzer beater 3. This when you know you are going to lose.

Lonzo is just playing opossum. He's not going to show his stuff in Summer league. Why give the other teams a chance to come up with a way to stop him?

Los Angeles Lakers rookie point guard Lonzo Ball made his summer league debut Friday night and he struggled with his shooting, making just two of his 15 attempts in an overtime loss to the L.A. Clippers. Would the inauspicious debut do anything to calm down Lonzo’s outspoken father LaVar? Of course not.

Interviewed by ESPN’s Ramona Shelburne during the Lakers’ game against the Boston Celtics Saturday night, the elder Ball said that his son would one day surpass Magic Johnson as the best point guard ever.

“(Magic’s) got Zo,” LaVar Ball said. “You’re (sic) about to see the best guard…Magic what he was doing, he’s about to pass the torch to Lonzo. Lonzo’s going (sic) to step over him and be the best guard EVER.”

It should be noted that during a pre-draft meeting LaVar told Magic that he’d taken his son as far as he could, saying that he trusted the Lakers team president with Lonzo. Johnson’s a Hall of Fame point guard and five-time NBA champion, so it goes without saying that he knows a little bit about what it takes to excel at the position. So while LaVar’s words on Saturday about Lonzo “stepping over” Magic may be viewed by some as disrespectful, that likely was not the intention.

“‘As far as training my boy, this is as far as I can take him,'” LaVar said of his pre-draft conversation with Johnson in a story written by Shelburne. “‘I’ll leave it up to you to take him further. You can get him better with the film time and the coaching. You can take him to another level.'”

“‘I trust you with my boy. I just got a great feeling that you guys are going to take Zo to a whole other level.'”

LaVar Ball and his family may be creating their own reality show, but Lonzo Ball's outspoken father rejected a comparison to the first family of reality television.

"I ain't no Kardashian, I ain't no Kris Jenner," he told TMZ. "We the Balls. Welcome to the Ball era."

"I don't like them; I don't dislike them," he continued. "The Kardashians are the Kardashians. We're separate. We're ballplayers. We're ballplayers. I ain't following nothing or nobody."

Indeed, the Balls' show will be on Facebook as part of the website's push to get into creative video content, according to Denise Petski of Deadline.com:

"The second project is a yet-to-be-titled docuseries about the Ball family, whose sons Lonzo, LiAngelo and LaMelo have taken the basketball world by storm. Freshman UCLA star Lonzo Ball was chosen by the Los Angeles Lakers as their No. 2 pick in the NBA draft last month. LiAngelo and LaMelo are standouts at Chino Hills High School."
