In the house KLC gerrymandering can easily allow a state party to win more seats with less votes and it happens often. The party in power has the right to draw boundaries which allow this to happen. Therefore the party in power has a great advantage of staying in power even if they lose the popular vote.Comment -

#108It went like this. Bush was oresident in 2008. Most states were dem gov. The bush admin did so good with the economy that it trickled down to the states. America went dem pres and state gov repub. In 2010 the redistricting took place. The repubs gerrymandered the districts. If they get this health care bill through the same shit is going to happen the other way. As we speak there is legislation b4 s.c. about gerrymandering in n.c and penn.Comment -

#112Senate will stay Republican. Too many Trump won states up for re-election in 2018 with Democrats in those seats. My gut tells me the Republicans will keep the House also, and I'll tell you why. Trump voters don't share their true feelings for him, like they have for past candidates. Things are so volatile politically nowadays that they don't want to have confrontations with people on the other side. I live in Tennessee. During presidential elections, I can recently remember all of the Romney, McCain, Bush, etc. signs out in the yards, and on buildings. I saw 2 Trump signs all of last year in my neighborhood. That was it. We had a lot of local signs, but nothing for the president. It's very hard to gauge the pulse of a lot of right wing voters because they just don't want to discuss it, but deep down I believe they are truly loving every second of it. We'll just have to wait and see if Trump's agenda moves on. If it does, the Democrats won't have a chance in hell of getting the House because the silent voters will be inspired to go out and vote again in 2018.Comment -

#114I'm sure redistricting had some to do with it, but I don't believe it would affect over 1000 seats though. I just believe that people that vote regularly in not just the presidential elections, but the midterms also, did not like the direction the country was going, and turned the seat numbers around in 2010 and 2014 when Obama was not on the ticket.
just recently read an article about this, you might be surprised, if I can find it again I will post itl

#117I think that could have some to do it with it, but that many seats lost is more than that though. To me, that just shows a policy that does not resonate with the majority of the people. But I'll take it a step farther. I believe people on the right, and the middle pay attention to the elections a lot more than people on the left. When they put the presidential candidates out there, you see the left fringe show their faces, but they are not as involved in the midterms as the right and middle are. They heard Obama was on the ticket, and they came out in droves. No president on the ticket, and they are probably at home playing Playstation. The Democratic member of Congress from Austin, otherwise represented in Washington, D.C. by Republicans, says Democrats

#118One thing I will say is that this will be near the end of the Republican party if Trump is not successful. He has to convince a lot of youth that his way is the way to go. That would have to take 2 terms to have a chance of working. Youth are firmly in the Democratic camp, and if they can't be swayed and converted t conservatism, it could very well all be over for the right.Comment -

wow, a very astute observation for a conservative, I am impressed.
I agree with you, the only difference is I think in the long run the conservatives of today are in serious trouble. People argue that the voters don't agree with D ideas. That is absolutely false. The majority of D ideas are favored by the electorate. If somebody thinks differently they are wrong. Now concerning DT yes, I agree he can definitely hasten the demise of R policy. I am not saying destroy the party, but I think he can easily change the dynamics of the party. They will have to abandon many of the crazy ideas they now espouse.Comment -

hey rocket man, you calm down a little. Is your dog still alive. wow my great friend you went off the reservation for a little while. my god rocket, you are an idiot so what. you know not everybody can be educated, not everybody is able to argue intelligently. look at it this way, you and dwight and brooks are like triplets. you get it? do you get it rocket man? no need to bust a gasket my great friend. you're an idiot, you write stupid shit, you write about pissin on a grave to see if a person is alive, you tell people that nobody reads their posts and then respond to that post. now you gotta admit that is pretty stupid shit.
then the closer is you refuse to answer a yes or no question. a simple question. at the time I didn't know you were a real Russian, so that gives you a tiny excuse. but if you want to talk American politics, for god sake rocket man learn a little. dwight doesn't answer questions either, nor does brooks. you are in great company

#128Chico this is a bad bet. The one thing the republicans do well is campaign. They don't give two shits if they are telling the truth or not. They play as dirty as dirty can get. They are well aware that they can give everything to the rich by simply bringing up wedge issues these dopes fall for over and over again. Think about it. Bush had total control with the Supreme Court and did nothing about abortion. You know why? Because it would be a dead issue if they got their way. You say these people in Tenn will not vote for them if they fuk up health insurance? What will happen is that the Republicans will lie thru their teeth and somehow these imbeciles will think Obama took away their healthcare. They are full aware their base is full of nitwits and they take full advantage of it like a robber takes advantage of a person who leaves his house wide open. Democrats are just terrible campaigners. Scared to say anything. Have to be politically correct. They need more guys like Alan Grayson to get anywhere anymore. Sure Enuf he got beat in a primary from a guy who lost the senate bid. Typical democrats have the wrong guy win. Grayson is a Harvard grad with big balls and chops down all these despicable lies guys like Roy think are the golden truth. The bar is so much higher for a democrat to win anything. Just look what happen to Howard Dean. Can u imagine what happen to him and than see all the despicable shit Trump did to get elected.Last edited by Thor4140; 07-04-17, 07:42 PM.Comment -

It tells you the the Democratic lawmakers believe more in their voters' agenda, than the Republican lawmakers think of their constituents. I can call the majority of Republicans in Washington self serving pussies all day long, but as much as I believe that Republican and Independent voters are more engaged, I think they do a lousy job of picking their representatives in the primaries. There are so many Republicans in Washington that do nothing, but are elected over and over again because people know their name. You would think that with a consistent 13% or lower approval rating, that people would be paying more attention to their candidates.
That being said, that's why I believe Trump got elected. Republican and Independent voters got sick of the same-old same-old, and went with a candidate who is not afraid to fight, and in his own way, can communicate. Trump has his work cut out for him. He has to get results. Results are the only thing that can convince people who started out against him. If he gets the people of Wisconsin, Michigan, Ohio, and Pennsylvania jobs, he'll win re-election in 2020, and have an opportunity to move the needle to the right by proving his vision works. If he doesn't succeed, the country will move to the left even more, and that might be the beginning of the end of conservatism.Comment -
