    Brian Bosworth - 30 for 30
Just rewatched this 30 for 30 from 3 years ago....man...this Brian Bosworth guy....

Never heard of him until this series, as I was just being born when he was playing ball. What a linebacker for OU. Never got to see him play game after game but after watching this series, he has to be if not the best, one of the best college linebackers to ever have played the game....

Check it out if you havent already...

Yeah, funnyb--he was indeed a great player ( I am a bit older, and I remember him playing). But, he admitted he was on the juice while in college. Does this affect your opinion of what he did on the field? It does for me.

Well...Weren't a ton of them on them back then? It just seems like he got caught due to his loud personality...He wasn't the most "people person" lol

He was strictly built up on steroids and hype. Once he got off the juice, he was out the league. He talked a lot of shit and intimidated a lot of his opponents but once he got exposed he got punked.

You want a great linebacker... Go look up Derrick Thomas. All natural, no needles and was a fukking monster on the football field. His sack records were unreal. He set record 7 sacks in an NFL game. He had 27 sacks at Bama when they only played 12 games. Dude would disrupt so many plays even if you double teamed him.

Tony Mandarich was another that was juiced to the gills and a major bust in the NFL

I remember when Bo Jackson ran over him and into the end zone. Classic.

Boz wasn't totally juiced up. He did have talent. Mandarich on the other hand was all juice. He was total shit without it.

but, unless you're around the guy, you never know if injuries was the cause to their demise. I've seen too many guys that were incredibly talent but injuries, especially nagging injuries did them in. Hell Bo Jackson might have been hall of fame MLB or NFL if he never got injured. I'm sure if he could do it all again, he would have quit football.

I still think that was the beginning of the end of the Biz's career.
Sad to think , that we will never see an athlete like Bo ever again.

He was the right guy in the right place at the right time

He came along when television deals were really blowing up and introducing players to the public started becoming a thing. The media was creating stars or heels for us to root for and against.

Add in the OU/Miami rivalry, the attitude of the canes and Bosworth matched them step for step. White vs. Black. I remember those days well

To say he was overrated or the story made this out to be bigger than it was I think is a bit unfair, he was the first of his kind because of tv. He was a 2x Butkus winner, 2x unamious All American, 3x All Big8, etc.... he was the real deal

Yeah, Dion was the shit too. He was probably a better All around athlete than Bo. Bo always seemed a bit stiff in the hips, which might have led to his injury. He wasn't as fluid as Dion and a bit dorky. Dion was smooth. I played football at UF and was around most sports especially track, so I saw both of them. Dion had speed to burn on grass but wasn't quite Olympic world class on the track. Dude was a terror on the bases though. If he got on, he was stealing and you weren't throwing him out. I think his sophomore or junior year he had over 30 stolen bases. I heard he played a baseball game, ran over to the track and ran relays, then went back to play a double header and was at football practice that morning. My God...

Bo was built for baseball though. He had the goods to really be the best ever.

He was an incredible college football athlete. One of the better linebackers to play NCAA... BUT he was a total bust in the NFL. The hype, his bravado, his defiance against the NFL (sued them I think before he even signed a contract with the Seahawks), defiance over where he would play, really made him look like a heel. Then he plays only 2 years, albeit due to the injury? Tim Tebow had more success than Boz.

We tend to grade athletes on their dominance at the highest level. He wasn't able to do that.

Bo was all natural. The guy didn't even work out. He ran up the outfield wall chasing a fly ball. Crazy talent.

JJ - there are countless athletes that were excellent in 2 sports.

Jim Thorpe won Olympic gold medals in the Pentathalon and Decathalon. Do you know how hard that is? He also played college and professional Football, Baseball AND Basketball. Think about that for a minute??? He also played Lacrosse and won several ballroom dancing contests. The guy played running back, defensive back, kicked punts and field goals. He was a 1 man wrecking crew.

Jim Brown played Lacrosse, basketball, football and ran track as well. He was another guy that could do it all.

Bo was not a large carries guy. He would get nicked up very easily during a game. Herschel Walker, Eric Dickerson, Earl Campbell, Emmitt Smith are every down backs. We made Bo's ass quit one game at the Swamp. Gator boys were hitting hard as hell and he conveniently came up with some bogus injury, because he didn't want no more. I also saw him on several occasions pull up with a cramp or hamstring running track if he wasn't in front.

Kind a reminded me of this play but not nearly as vicious. Tatum and Campbell both got knocked out on this play. Earl's momentum took him into the end zone.

Dead on Mac. Bo was a much more exciting & explosive player but Dion was all around a more prolific NFL & MLB player.
If I'm not mistaken, NEON played in a Super Bowl & the World Series.

Sadly Bo never made it to either.

low man wins especially a stud like bo running down hill on you

why he thought he could tackle bo high I'll never know.

Stood up then taken for a ride on the bo Jackson express.

There is an element of "The Boz" being overblown.

Start w/ the fact that Brian was pretty smart. He's stated that he KNEW he wasn't THAT good. Start w/ that premise...and most of what u saw was a show.

He capitalized on the opportunity and made some $$. Bo (a TRUE legend) steamrolled The Boz in the Kingdome, and it was downhill after that.
Where's the fuckin power box, Carol?
