Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, a UCLA legend and a member of the Basketball Hall of Fame, believes outspoken parents like LaVar Ball are bad for college basketball because they create a "huckster show."
On Saturday, TMZ Sports passed along comments the three-time NCAA champion made during an appearance on 97.5 The Fanatic about the father of Lonzo Ball, who played one season with the Bruins and is currently a top prospect leading up to the 2017 NBA draft on June 22.
"Everybody knows about his sons because he has been able to hype them. But I don't think that's good for college basketball," Abdul-Jabbar said. "College basketball is starting to look like a...it doesn't look good. It looks like it's a huckster show. And that bothers me, you know. You have people going those lengths to promote their kids. I don't get it."

With former UCLA Bruins guard Lonzo Ball now officially a member of the Los Angeles Lakers, LaVar Ball has already made some bold predictions regarding his son.
“Lonzo Ball is going to take the Lakers to the playoffs in his first year,” the elder Ball notably told Jeff Goodman of ESPN on Thursday evening.
However, Lonzo wasn’t far behind with his comments either.
“That’s the goal,” the newest Laker said not to be outdone by his father. “You don’t play to lose. That’s definitely the goal. That’s the plan.”
Although the Lakers are certainly on the upswing, the playoffs might be a little further off than next season.
“I’m a very optimistic person, but I don’t look that far into the future,” said Lakers head coach Luke Walton, via ESPN. “Right now, I’m hoping [Lonzo] leads us to a couple summer league victories, and we’ll take it from there.”
On the other hand, Walton did mention that he believes that LaVar’s comments may create some added pressure for Lonzo during his rookie season.
“I think it will make it more challenging, a little bit, but I think every top draft pick that comes in has a target on their back,” Walton added. “The best players in this league want to set the tone with these young players early, to let them know what it’s like here. I know when I was a young player, I had a target on my back from my own teammates because of things my dad said, but it ended up working out.”Comment -

Throw in a little racism against Pacquaio or a Latin fighter by wearing a sombrero to the ring when you fight on Cinco de Mayo to spice up the sauce every once in a while and it is even better.
Regardless of whether or not Ball is a bust, average, or great, all eyes will be on him because of his dad. I literally don't even know who the #1 pick in the draft was but I know about Ball because his black dad told a hot semi-celebrity white woman that she's a hater and that he's no apologizing.
