    Chicago Cubs wtf
Why has a team that was 50 games over 500 having this record his year. Arrieta is not as good obviously as his first half 2016. All the here's TV said this was going to be a dynasty..lol

Schwarber sucks right now, Arrieta sucks, Terrible bullpen etc, World Series hangover. Many reasons why they are struggling right now but they will be in the mix in October.

Guys we're young to begin with, now they won a World Series and they are cocky as fuk strike out kings.

Who is looking forward to some playoff games in Colorado this year that would be awesome!

              Lots of reasons.

Mostly young team position wise at least and they coming off a magical season that left a entire huge fan base celebrating them all off season, easy to be less focused and/or hungry for even a experienced group off a less meaningful championship.

I think this next part about the pitching staff the biggest thing that ppl seemed to overlook coming into the year..

Speaking of age there some mileage on their pitchers and they just pitched a ton off the WS run and quite a bit in previous seasons deep playoff push. Not to mention few guys had seasons in which everything just went right and their era's were well below what we could assume/expect from their advanced stats ( reminded me of season cardinals batters hit like .340 for the entire season with risp, amazing when happened but eventually that bubble had to burst!) a magical year can happen and all the good fortune can be sustained a season but for more than 1?

On same note scrubbies were historically good defensively for which pitchers benefited a great deal, coming into season we knew the defense took a step backwards..

Division as a whole has made great strides forward in pursuit of them and they all gunning for them. Being the hunted a lot different than the hunter the scrubbies are surely finding out!!

Chapman at the end of games solidifies your whole Bullpen.

I would still expect we see some excellent baseball out of the scrubbies at some stretch, don't think it be sustained throughout whole season when it happens but they still the favs in the central, just gonna be far tighter race than folks wanted to believe which exciting!!!

They'll be ok but need their pitching to get it together. Hitters also not doing as well but Happ may give everyone a jolt

You really think Kris Bryant is a one-year wonder?

Rizzo a slow start, but no one-year wonder. Schwarber, Russell, Contreras will get going.

Cmon now.. it was misguided for them to be labeled juggernauts for lots of reasons and some question marks with pitching staff but that lineup still as dangerous as they come. with that leadership and resources will be a perennial contender for the next decade.

1 world series in 110 years. now, they are a dynasty. not likely. they've come back to the pack. will contend but you have to wonder where the motivation is to do it again.

Management as in front office. I'll give you manager/coach in baseball somewhat unimportant, until you have a shitty one that is! Disagree with your premise tho, madden knows being .500 right now isn't gonna effect who wins the World Series. Not saying they are or he has a genius plan just that .500 in may certainly doesn't mean he has no positive impact on team.

I have a hard time seeing how people think Russell, Contreras and Schwarber are stars. They have power and I get that they're young, but none have really shown the ability to hot for average. Last year was just he Cubs year, everything just went their way.

I wouldn't give up on them just yet.

After a 3-2 loss to the San Diego Padres on Wednesday at Wrigley Field, the Cubs opted to send Schwarber to Triple-A Iowa.

Considering the state of the team, just 36-35 and 1.5-games behind the Milwaukee Brewers in the NL Central, it might be the right move for both the team and the player. To continue to run Schwarber out there, allowing his continued strikeouts and low batting average to throw punches at his confidence, wasn’t doing anybody any good. Going back to the minors to work on implementing mechanical changes in his swing, something he has been working on in recent weeks despite a part-time role, makes all the sense in the world right now.
