Depends on how much money we're talking. If you're just betting for some action, the pool will offer you marginally better odds right now plus you get some action on where the final odds will land. If you are betting big money I would spread my bet just to make sure you don't get buried on a huge late bet on the fav.

Personally I find the bigger the field the more the tote price is the play on a reasonably havy fav as this is and fixed in smaller fields, this isn't a particularly big field. I'm not a racing guy though and in a completely different market.
