Seriously Dirty Bird, no way can anyone spend more than 10-15 minutes capping a game. Research players, lines, weather, record, coach, trends, then pull the trigger. If you can't pick a spot after 1-2 minutes than usually it's not worth the emotional investment.

Also, with that philosophy you'll never know why you are losing, destined to make the same mistakes over and over again only to incorrectly explain it away with "it happens" or "Got cocky."
