#39To clarify, I wasn't disparaging Esfandiari. Hell, he won enough $$ for 10lifetimes in that ONE tournament.
Just saying that Esfandiari had one interaction w/ Lex Veldhuis. Lex talks about it in this video. Too funny:

#42Poker players love to think they have unique skill and are smarter then everyone else. My experience is that it mainly about patience and playing good hands, with a little luck. Waiting for the other gamblers to lose patience and try to bluff you when you have the right cards. Overly aggressive players I believe even out over time. Just like every other time of gambling 95% are down over time.Comment -

#56Most people playing poker can't beat the game for several reasons, and very rarely is luck the deciding factor. For those who lack the skill, then yes, it's just gambling with varying degrees of losing. For those who have the skills, there's not much gambling to it.Comment -

#57While it's no surprise you believe so, the results of countless good poker players and the math behind the game disagree. Your approach is only somewhat useful at SBR (where participation awards are given out and you can participate your way to the top 20% or so) or at microstakes. As some of us on here know (including sharp), trying that crap at even small stakes losing is inevitable in the long run...the math doesn't lie.
However, I do agree with Henry Rollins 100%.
Henry Rollins is the author of the Tripe theme song as well:

Interesting that you're so quick to call someone a liar when they (accidentally) put words in your mouth, yet you often intentionally do the same thing...I guess it's yet another example of the mental gymnastics you do to convince yourself you're anything but what you areComment -
