I would say a streaky capper. If anyone followed my picks on hot streaks, they would've done quite well. Yes in the sports that I was assigned to do that were my strong sports. College basketball...eh average. I would say one of the better cappers with the great research. Baseball-definitely a winning capper! In the early years, I was assigned a lot of NBA. Winning capper with NBA and NHL. College sports were my weaknesses. Would ride teams like Gonzaga (common sense).

No problem. I'm like you. I don't mess around and I get right to the point. I was late with some work. I have health issues (which I have always mentioned here) and I have a 3 year old despite being 45. I have no family to take care of my autistic son (I'm on disability) from the surgeries and I take care of him. Occasionally, he'd have appointments and the parts of the time, it would be difficult to work because he's the love of my life and autistic. She knew that I needed a supplemental income and SBR has ALWAYS been good to me and I think that I've been good to them. Was having a skype conversation with her and she wouldn't talk on the phone. I had to message her. I was upset being replaced at the last second by someone who I was better then. I never use expletives because she was cool in the past. I asked her am I fired or not because she was wishy washy and she knew that I had a kid and I loved the job. I referred to a former editor being a jerk. She thought that I was talking about her, but I wasn't. I sent her an email saying that she misunderstood. She never answered. She insulted me during a conversation asking me what do I have to offer? Duh...I've been good enough for over 7 years and am an experienced writer. The bottom line is that she thought I called her a jerk and I swear on my kid that I didn't. I'm one of those people that if I see work that's posted and my work is better, I would politely let her know, but not to the point of risking my job. I love this job and as I stated before, I wrote almost every day for almost 7 years. I know that late work is not acceptable, but she didn't give me any fair warning and she's telling me that March Madness is the 2nd most important time of the year. This is also a person that was a regular editor who ASKED FOR MY HELP BECAUSE THEY DIDN'T KNOW A BETTING TERM. SBR is part of my daily life and now it's not. It really hurt my ego and feelings, more importantly. If you think that a worker calls you a jerk, get confirmation and don't jump the gun. Would I really call her a jerk if I wanted a job with SBR? C'mon! Sorry, typing in the middle of the night, in the dark, and my kid is sleeping. If this response seems like a run-on sentence, it's because I'm tired and sad about the situation. I'm not like a lot of other writers. I'm like LT. I post on here with you guys because I'm one of the guys and don't think that I'm any better than anyone because of the job title.

the misunderstanding was written below. Editor in chief thought I called her a jerk and I certainly didn't. She didn't like skype calls and she misunderstood a written message. I tried to clarify through email, but she's not replying. Very sad to me.

YES! and I loved this job and needed this job (I have an autistic kid and it's not cheap and I also have my own health issues) Everyone with a legitimate question get's a reply.

It's not a "MOD". It's the editor-in-chief where the articles are concerned. Nice person, but misunderstood what I said through skype messaging because she wouldn't take my call. I get the feeling that she would see my messages and not answer them occasionally. That said, this isn't proven. Just my opinion and I did get along well with her.

I seem to remember you being involved in some controversy last MLB season when you clearly had written up one team to win, then tried to take credit for the other team when they won because you had entered the wrong pick.

Did something similar happen now for you to lose the job or do you have only your poor spelling to blame? "Disunderstanding" is not the only mistake in the OP ...

HAHA. Never claimed to be a fantastic speller. Editors fix spelling mistakes and I'm brutally honest. If I say or do something, it's totally true. We're here for our knowledge and to help the bettors prosper. A spelling error doesn't define the quality of work. In fact, after handing work in, the editors miss spelling errors. Go on Yahoo. They miss spelling errors also. Bottom line is that I would never lie regarding my "former position here". Too much to lose.

Fair enough, I agree that good writing is about more than spelling. Sucks to hear you lose a job you really liked. Hope you can find equal happiness somewhere else, I know there are a lot of sites out there looking for people to write up games.
