I guess they are taking the lead that the immigrants did a few weeks ago. Already closing schools in Virginia and North Carolina because they don't think they will have enough teachers. Telling women to wear red and not go to work or go shopping. It's going to be tough on me potentially not having any sideline reporters for basketball and hockey games tomorrow.

What will happen on March 8?

Women are urged to take the day off from "paid and unpaid labor." People are also asked to avoid shopping on that day with exceptions made for small, women- and minority-owned businesses. People are also asked to wear red in solidarity with A Day Without a Woman.

Why red?

Organizers said red is a "color signifying revolutionary love and sacrifice. Red is the color of energy and action associated with our will to survive. It signifies a pioneering spirit and leadership qualities, promoting ambition and determination. It also has a history of being associated with the labor movement."

What are businesses asked to do?

Business are asked to close for the day or give female workers the day off.

Can men participate?

Men are asked to use the day to increase their support for the women in their life, including taking on childcare and domestic duties, and to push for equal pay in the workplace. Men are also urged to wear red.
