They are related... Everything in Chromium is in Chrome , not everything in Chrome is in Chromium. Google added more stuff to Chrome

if you have an older laptop/desktop (not your main one) use it to experiment with Linux 1st... Or get a distro you can run/boot from a USB thumb drive or CDr -- a Live version
