Jared Weaver is now a Padre
Bleacher Report is saying he signed with San Diego. Had some good years with the Halos, but probably should have retired before last season.

Perfect pickup for a team like the Padres. If he has a decent year, they can get a prospect or two for him at mid season.

The Weaver bros scammed a lot of money out of MLB teams based purely on hype.

The Padres is a retirement home for all washed up players. They all end up retiring from here to stay living in San Diego.

He's horrible, but there is no risk for the Padres. Eric Stultz put up good stats in their park. Padres are on the way up though.

Exactly. If he can eat some innings, and get flipped for a prospect, it'll be a good deal for San Diego.

He was a real good pitcher for the Angels but it safe to say it's over. 150-93 with the Angels and 9 straight winning seasons. This is his last shot and for 3 million why not. The Padres have the worst staff in both leagues. Hey, if he goes 9-15 he could be their ace. Weaver did have a nice career with Halos. When your entire starting five all have an ERA over 5.00 what do you have to lose by giving Jared Weaver a shot? The Padres obviously don't want to spend money because Doug Fister is still sitting by the phone. Weaver is only 34 and probably just likes the game. This past off season he should've got together with Tim Wakefield and learned the knuckleball.

I'm surprised more pitchers don't go this route. Many of these pitchers last into their 40's, and I've read the knuckleball puts much less stress on their arm. The only real problem is finding a catcher that can field the pitches.
