I've met Syrians, groups of people living and doing business here in LA.. They run a large wholesale appliance store and deal mostly in cash... They are friendly for the most part on the outside but it's more of an act because you're a potential customer is the vibe I got. I found them to be ruthless businessmen, hired only illegal Mexican workers too.. They spoke in Arabic among themselves around American customers which I found sneaky and rude.. The all could speak English..

I went out in back of the store and talked to the hired Mexican help that were loading up my new stove.. They told me their pay is in cash and not very much compared to what their Mexican brothers and friends make at other labor jobs.. Told me the Syrian owners are very cheap and only care about themselves... I told them they should look for a new job..

That's a group of Syrians that have been here for 20 years in America that are established.. Older guys in their 50's....

Can only imagine what the young ones are like fresh off the boat??.. NO THANK YOU!!! GOOD LUCK CANADA!! Have fun picking up the bill for them..

However, guess what Sam. I just read an article by an economist and he claims that what we are witnessing the past 15 or 20 years may very well be the new norm. Meaning stagnating wages, poor economic growth not ever again reaching 5%, very few blue collar jobs, depression and high suicide rates especially in the white working class and a malaise that never ends. If this guy is correct what is there to stop a revolting public?

This guy believes the answer may very well be the government supporting the people. Meaning each family will be allotted a certain amount of cash on a monthly schedule. Which in reality is simply a radical method of income redistribution. Not communism, not even socialism but simply a method used to keep capitalism relevant. So far advances in technology have not translated into greater economic growth. Oh we have great inventions, the phone, the internet and other wonderful devices. But, where does this translate into economic growth. So far, it has not. The great push economically has not happened especially for the middle class. Maybe it will, but if it doesn't something has to change. The American people and the people of the world especially in developed nations will not continue to accept this. Yes, it has been great for developing countries but developed countries are not doing well.

So maybe your facetious comment is the future.
