Some of these stories that revolve around sports wagering I question. Seeing and hearing more about these stories from writers lately. Could be FAKE NEWS. We don't know.

Seems like reporters nowadays aren't even researching anything... they are just lying about every story.

Yes, William Hill claimed someone lost 100K to win 1K when Federer was playing against Stakhovsky at Wimbledon (2013).

I do think WH are trying to get free advertising by doing so.

Also, to get back on topic, with the millions of bettors around the world, I am sure he was not the only guy betting on Djokovic at 1.01 (or 1.02 whatever), I am sure some others lost more than 8500 (8500 is not that big of a loss), some punters bet more than that.
Pinnacle who has the highest limits probably accepted many bets of over 8500 on Djokovic, there are many noobs betting like this on tennis.
