I don't know. I've been gambling since I was in middle school.... so it's been a long time... and not many games are rigged imo. Certain players get special treatment, yeah. I think they should get special treatment too. But most of the time the better team on that given day wins the game. It mostly comes down to matchups and gameplans and all the other intangibles (motivation, hunger, fatigue, mental state, etc)... RLM, public numbers, none of that stuff really influences the outcome of games in the long run... if it did, then public bets wouldn't be hitting at the clip they do over the long term. So there's inconsistencies there big time. Vegas relies on their knowledge of the game, knoweldge of math, inside info about players, coaches, etc, to win. They don't rely on the refs to do the work for them. That's why they survive and are in this business for the long haul.
