#7It's that half thing playing up again no doubt ;-)
Nice to remember him anyway. Was always a fight to get me away from the TV for dinner during MASH as a kid..Comment -

#8hawkeye pierce (alan alda) just wouldn't shut his mouth on that show. he had twice the dialogue lines as the rest of the cast combined. cannot watch mash re-runs because all the show is about is him blabbering constantly.Originally posted by OptionalIt's that half thing playing up again no doubt ;-)

#9If someone saw it for the first time years later I am sure it feels like sappy moralizing.Originally posted by unusialsusp5hawkeye pierce (alan alda) just wouldn't shut his mouth on that show. he had twice the dialogue lines as the rest of the cast combined. cannot watch mash re-runs because all the show is about is him blabbering constantly.
People were more open to simple morality tales on TV like that in the 70s. It didn't seem like preaching at the time like it comes across now..Comment -

#10it wasn't so much the preaching and moralizing (he did that too) along with the complaining about how the war was being run constantly. it was every conversation on the show about anything he just wouldn't shut up. wayne rogers left the show because of it. alda got all the lines. he must have been paid by the word. hawkeye this, hawkeye that, trying watching a re-run without him getting 20 minutes of dialogue.Originally posted by OptionalIf someone saw it for the first time years later I am sure it feels like sappy moralizing.
