#23On a team that has its fair share of holes, the running back unit certainly isn’t one of them.
Forte is getting up there in age, but remains a steady contributor. With a somewhat reduced workload in 2017 that comes along with the emergence of Powell, less tread on the tires could help Forte to be more productive throughout the whole game.
For Powell, this is a year to show not only the Jets, but the rest of the league, that he can be the guy at running back. Powell impressed when Forte went down with an injury towards the end of last year and new offensive coordinator John Morton has already said that he will see an increased workload in 2017.
This increased workload will give Powell more of a chance to show what he can do on a consistent basis, as opposed to 2016 where Powell would rip off some solid runs and then not see the field for a while after that.
If both Forte and Powell do what they are capable of in 2017, the running backs will easily be the Jets’ strongest unit and should be the most important position offensively if they want to move the ball and win some games.

#24So how does Bilal Powell stack up against 8 man boxes? Because I guess there will be lots of them with that passing attack. Jets best hope is that McCown turns into 2013 Chicago Bears McCown and that Austin Sefarian-Jenkins shows his true potential and breaks the all-time reception record.
Every other team also knows that the RB unit is their best unit, but the Jets can't keep defenses honest at the moment. Todd Gurley is a way better back than Powell but look at his stats. I'm thinking that Powell will have a hard time reaching 1000 yards.Comment -

#25This is a throw away season for the Jets. They should try and figure out who has some talent and who does not. Basically this is a 16 game tryout session for the Jet players. They are going to get a "franchise" type QB in the 2018 draft (boy, talk about an overused term). Whether it will be the #1 QB on their list or not is yet to be determined.Comment -
