Sammy, you know a lot, so I am thinking you have already heard of this story. I was listening to Dan Carlin's hardcore history podcast covering World War I and one of the more memorable things that he shared, was the Christmas day or eve truce that the Germans and British agreed to. These guys had been engaged in trench warfare for week's on end and on that night, soldiers heard some Germans singing Christmas songs. The story goes that the British joined in and after a while, both sides emerged from the trenches and faced each other, singing and whatnot. Then, they shared cigarettes, chocolate, etc. Dan obv. does the story more justice than me, but all be damn if it wasn't a magical Christmas moment.
