Astros Sign Josh Reddick To 4 Year $52 Million Contract
The Houston Astros acquired catcher Brian McCann from the New York Yankees for two prospects and reportedly signed free agent outfielder Josh Reddick to a four-year, $52 million deal as an expected off-season renovation kicked into high gear.

McCann, who turns 33 in February, takes over behind the plate in Houston for free agent Jason Castro. He was expendable in New York with the emergence of rookie Gary Sanchez, who hit 20 home runs in a half-season this year.

Yahoo Sports reported that the Astros and Reddick have agreed to terms on a four-year, $52 million contract.

Reddick, who turns 30 in February, averaged 17 home runs and a .321 on-base percentage in five seasons with the Oakland Athletics - the final two months of those spent with the Los Angeles Dodgers after an August trade. His offensive numbers should get a boost in the more hitter-friendly confines of Minute Maid Park,

Not thoroughly excited about this. Not much of an upgrade from Rasmus IMO. Signing away $13 million a year makes me wonder if they don't feel too optimistic about getting a starting pitcher in trade. At least he didn't cost them a draft pick.

reddick's on the downside of a mediocre career. can't hit lefthanders. has to be platooned. .250 hitter with 15 homers is the most you're going to get out of this guy. surprised houston went this route. they could have gotten this guy later for much less dollars. they should be developing a younger outfielder and look for a front line starter. verlander good fit there. would make them favorites for that weak AL west.

Houston has some of the best young hitters in the game and potentially the guy that people look up to in Trout, in Correa who could be the next big thing, heck even Altuve is up there.
Definately feel they should be making the post season and an indians like run
Bit more balance now with young blood and old heads

Houston dominating the headlines in all sports, that's enough KLC

You guys are going up, we are getting a new stadium and are focusing on budget more so you better make something happen next year or else we are going to continue winning that division. then losing to the Jays

Reddick is a carbon copy of Rasmus. 20 hr's and injured half the time. they gained nothing with that signing, in fact Rasmus is probably a better player. Stros need starting pitching and Morton is no answer for that.
