These are no different than the austerity protests in Europe. Government programs initially designed to aid citizens in need become implied entitlement. The next generation forgets the original intent of said program, thinks they have a birth right to it, and will not accept any legal outcome of election that could undo what they falsely assume is theirs. If Bernie had run against Trump, I truly believe that Sanders would have won. Sanders had the same "movement" enthusiasm behind him that Trump did. The difference between the two is that the Democratic establishment was able to defuse Bernie through "super delegates" while the inept Republican establishment did not have a clue as to how to derail Trump. Obama had given a blueprint of how to win elections in the 21st century by enthusing the minorities and the youth vote. Sanders firmly had the majority of the millennials in his camp, and they would have been energized to vote in the general election. I would not be surprised if most of these "protesters" had not even voted in November with Hillary on the ticket.

Trump has an enormous job in front of him. He has to prove to these young kids that want socialism, that the "old school" way of capitalism is truly the way to go. Could that happen? Possibly. He'll need 8 years to do it. The only way Trump gets 2 terms is if he can deliver jobs to those voters in the Midwest that jumped from their traditional Democratic voting. If the bleeding can stop for those traditional factory workers in Michigan, Iowa, Wisconsin, Ohio, and Pennsylvania, Trump will own their votes again in 2020. This will give him enough time to show millennials that there is truly an alternative to financial equality in this country other than redistribution of wealth.

For you younger guys, I'll just tell you that this is so much like 1980 all over again that it is mind boggling. Trump and Reagan were both outsiders. Reagan was the out of control cowboy that would push the button on the Soviet Union, while Trump is just labelled as out of control. Reagan had to deal with both liberals and establishment Republicans to get his things done like Trump has to. The first 2 years are going to probably be rough with all of the changes, but if things follow the blueprint of the 80's, there will be a ton of optimism everywhere by 2019.

This is the Republicans last stand. If they drop the ball here, and don't convince minorities and millennials that conservatives have the better ideas, the future demographics show with an increasing minority, and "traditional" voters getting older, that there will just not be the votes for them to get back into the White House. It's going to be fun watching how all of this plays out.

Look at the election in regards to Michigan. The voters who went with Obama the last time two times either jumped sides or didn't vote at all. Why? I'm sure a major part of their vote the last two times had to do with some being African American wanting to vote for an African American candidate. But I think the most basic premise is that they feel they have no control so they act out. Protests are the new thing, and when used strategically, they can be powerful, but they lose their effectiveness when you start protesting everything. Look at how watered down these protests feel.

Grinding out change is hard and most don't have the slightest clue where to begin or the avenues to navigate to create change from within. So they feel helpless, and end up throwing bricks theogh windows because ya, fukk the man, and it feels good to fukk shit up when you're angry and don't have an outlet.

My solution is better education and informing people how to get involved and making it easier to be politically active. Its not a sexy answer but coming from someone that has fought political battles, been active for the better part of nearly two decades and stood before the Oklahoma state supreme court multiple times, thats my answer.

Some professors literally cancelled classes and tests the day after the election because we should be "mourning what happened in that election". GTFO. This is not kindergarten anymore. If you are in college, you are on the brink of the real world and should be treated like it. Did I call my boss Monday morning after the Packers lost to the Colts and tell him I couldn't come in because I was mourning? Fuk no I would have been fired.

Just last night one of my friends told me a female professor made a student take off his Trump hat during class while multiple other students were wearing hats. Help me understand other millennials. I apologize for the long post but I had to get this off my chest lest I succumb to a heart attack. I'd appreciate it stay in PT.

There is a called to protest, outright ban, the electoral college. There are demonstrations against the election of Trump as president of the USA. A call to have Jon Stewart run in 2020. A farewell and dream to Bernie losing the primary. They are so sure if Bernie went head to head with Trump he'd win easily.

They are wrong. Trump is our president. We have to accept like it or not. I do not like it, but he won, fair and square. He would've beat Bernie, The Dalhia Llama, Biden etc because the platform did not conform to the primary issue/grievance depressing a large voting bloc of the electorate. Trump would've destroyed them all because he was the only option to at least offer an alternative to calcified establishment that eroded the economic viability of a huge geographic area of the United States that dates back to the 90s. Yet all I see is millennials running to facebook calling racism, misogyny, homphiobia of this country because they don't see people struggling to survive.

I am very afraid of the youngest generation, my generation's, refusal to learn from its mistakes. Rather than autopsying this election to learn where things went wrong, they cry foul.

Gen X liberals went through this same stuff with Bush 16 years ago. Millennials aren't special. Just history repeating itself.
