(CBS) As he makes an 11th-hour push to return to the Cubs for the World Series, Kyle Schwarber went 0-for-3 with a walk for the Mesa Solar Sox in his Arizona Fall League debut Saturday night.

Schwarber hit one deep drive to the outfield that was tracked down on a terrific catch by the center fielder just shy of the warning track, according to reporter Matthew Lively.

They should DH for Heyward and let the pitcher hit.

For Arrieta's start, yeah, maybe, if Heyward starts.

If you DH for a position that isn't the pitcher and the pitcher leaves the game early you've fukkked up.

Speaking of Arrieta he usually uses Montero as the catcher (that needs to change) and if Montero is the catcher Contreras has to be the DH over Schwarber (if he makes the roster)

Yes, and Ross catches Lester Game 1. Contreras could play LF, if Cubs are willing to bench Heyward.

I thought the thread title was a joke but then I saw that schwarber hit 5 HRs last year. That's a Daniel Murphy like postseason

They likely drop Zastryzny or Almora Jr to add Schwarber

The latest word is that he will likely be activated.

It's looking more and more likely that Kyle Schwarber is going to join the Cubs' World Series party in an active role. So how can the team utilize him?

They'd be stupid not to add Scwarber, he is better hitter one legged than half their other outfielders. At minimum use as DH.

Probably Zastrzny. They were carrying 12 pitches, could go to 11. Zas never pitched NLCS and that was against a LH heavy lineup.

But if they want to stay at 12 pitchers, then I imagine Soler. They don't want him fielding anyway and if Schwarb is going to be DH...

He's certainly not an automatic out. Who knows really. Interesting enough, he made his MLB debut in Cleveland last season and went 4/5, triple. He's an Ohio kid too from Middletown.

Ya, if he plays he will be worthless. He was an easy strikeout last year when they faced Mets. He is the new strikeout king replacing Ryan Howard.

For all players in MLB history with over 40 PA's in the playoffs, Kyle Schwarber is #1 in OPS at 1.274. Gehrig and Ruth are 3 and 4. Now that's a crazy stat for ya.
