I think boston gets to the WS, and id love nothing more than 2 see clev go home early, but just being honest boston. porcello will be solid reg season pitcher, give up a bunch of HR's induce a lot of groundballs and double plays, but when he is off, I hope you take the over because its ugly. will never be a big game pitcher in the post season.

So what exactly constitutes a check swing? There were so many in this game.

I thought if your swing does not cross the plate, it's been "checked".

I know and that's fine, but for certain check swings the plate umpire didn't even ask for the line umpire for a check. When he did check down the line, the safe or strike call just seemed arbitrary.

i think it was cal at one point said that if the batter has the "intention" of swinging, then the line ump will call it a swing. I don't get what that means and makes it sound that a check swing call is an umpire judgment call

this loss goes directly on porcello tho. dude lives and die on the HR. if he is on dude gets ground balls and double plays. when he is off tho, the home runs come. in his 241 career starts, dude has giving up like 159 homeruns, that 65% of his starts he has giving up a home run. That is terrible, there are guys that only give up a handful a year.

Stellar or not, if you can't produce when the lights are the brightest then dude can have 30 wins and era of 1.50 in reg season and won't get you that W when its needed the most.

I watched the game and the red sox looked terrible. 14k's and a walk. This is supposed to be the best offense in all of baseball and they checkswung more than they actually swung the bat. And now, you have postseason choker on the mound in game 2. -110 at home with your ace on the mound, good value to me.
