I disagree...who wants that pressure?!!...what if he goes there and has back-to-back sub .500 seasons?!...his ass gets fired and he's back to being a nobody again...conversely, Peterson did the right thing when he left Boise ST to go to Washington...big difference...there is less expectations and less stress...you don't have to win right away...so in essence it's much less of a gamble and very little pressure to succeed immediately.

I understand all that...I'm just saying sometimes you've got to be practical about it...nothing more, nothing less...the way the Longhorns treated Mack Brown was absolutely disgusting after he won them a national championship in 2005 (after a 35 year drought of being a bunch of nobodies in the college football landscape) and ditto for LSU and Les Miles...and let's not forget before Herman there was Art Briles, than Ken Sumlin, and then Herman...his predecessors have already planted the seed and got the Cougar program rolling again.

We used to steal coaches from other universities in the state now we can't even steal q.b.'s. The best qb's from the state are playing for the buckeyes, A&M or any other texas school. Coach strong has not embellished the high school coaches in the state which is part of his problem.That is why Sumlin has done a great job. But You can't win a national championship at A&M (yes they did after bear left) but those days are over. It is time for strong to step up or we get a coach that will put us back at that level. Maybe butch jones comes here butnot sure how much they would like having a yankee here.

There is hardly a coach alive that will settle for coaching Houston. Briles was UH grad and went to BAYLOR.

I agree that the only reason why Texas won the NC in 2005 was because of Young. The fact still remains that Texas is a crap school when it comes to football. They will ALWAYS take a back seat to Oklahoma. They cannot recruit at all, and Charlie just makes things worse. Strong will never step up because he does not have the ability to step up. He has that typical black thinking. He is right and everyone else is wrong. That is why he fired so many assistant coaches. He is just trying to save his worthless arse. The only thing worse than the Texas football team are the Texas fans.
