I went with the Huskies here and all signs point to it being the right play but I just have a weird feeling about it after. Hope this isn't one of those off night games where everything that has happened now doesn't. Small bet but Washington it is.

Washington = Haven't played anybody yet hence the 4-0 record. QB just a sophomore. They are at home and that's a plus.

Stanford = Great defense and should be able to hold Huskies run game in check. QB manages game well and we all know about Stanfords run back averaging 8 yards a carry.

Not bad gaucho, now let's put some numbers behind it.

Unsophisticated bettors do see Stanford here in a few different ways. Most notably, the line I create that addresses a public gauge and is non-predictive gives Stanford a 27-20 win.

As we change the metrics and get more sophisticated I produce a line with Washington winning 35-20, triggering a play on Washington and the OVER. That won't always win, but it's likely the sharpest forecast you'll see posted today.

Can't get into the pressures on the line right now except to say that the opening spread and subsequent movement are in line with these predictions.

Can't say the same for the Total, we'll see what moves before game time.



Why make the first line?...I maintain that if you know why the line opens where it does and moves to where it moves you will go a long way towards being successful long term.

Very wrong about that. Seattle supports their teams well. I've been for several Oregon UW games and the crowd was very loud and very much in to it. Stanford the play tho. Arizona exposed how soft the UW Rush defense is and Stanford has proven they have solid pass def. the opposing qb qbr for their games were solid. Stanford wins in a classic Power run game and mcaffeey racks up some yards.
