Jay, I live in the DR 8 months a year.
Never had an on-line book, but the HUGE advantage for me is I have to get off my ass
and walk over to my local (Merenge Sport) to place a bet. Many less drunk, chase, stupid bets.

I am a $100 better now, but they will take a couple dimes on a straight bet with a phone call.
It works out nice for me.
