In other news Trent Dilfer didn't speak out against childhood slavery because he was a back-up qb and didn't want to rock the boat.
Yesterday, Dilfer went on KNBR radio station to clarify his comments only to make himself look more foolish in the process.My wife and I had been introduced to some really disturbing stuff and other social injustices: Childhood slavery in our country. And I’d gone to a couple seminars and presentations where we got really deep in the weeds about this issue. It became a passion of ours to help fight this battle of childhood slavery around the country and I had a very big platform in Seattle and I could have leveraged being a Seattle Seahawk, being an NFL quarterback, done a lot to get that message out there, but I chose not to at the sake of not wanting to disrupt the team and I never want to draw attention to myself, and take it away from Matt, the rest of our team and our preparation to win.”

Leilani Thomas has been sitting out the Pledge of Allegiance since way before she knew who Colin Kaepernick was. The Native American high school student has been protesting silently since she was in second grade.
“My mom and my dad brought up what it meant to us and our people,” Leilani said. “So I just started sitting down.”
But for the first time a teacher at Lower Lake High School took issue with it and docked her participation grade for not standing.
“She told me I was being disrespectful and I was pretty mad,” Leilani said. “She was being disrespectful to me also, saying I was making bad choices, and I don’t have the choice to sit during the pledge.”
Konocti School District Superintendent Donna Becnel is standing by Leilani and the other student who chose to sit. When asked why, Becnel said because of the first amendment.
“They have the same rights when they walk into the schoolhouse than anybody else does,” Becnel said.
The superintendent said its district policy to respect the students’ free speech. The school switched Leilani and her friend to another teacher after learning about the incident.
Leilani says she will continue to sit and is getting support from many of her classmates.
“I’m understanding it more that it means a lot and to a lot of my people also,” she said.

San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick and other athletes have received national attention for refusing to stand for the anthem this year. Kaepernick cited racial injustice and police brutality among the reasons.
''If they want to be stupid, there's no law that should be preventive,'' Ginsburg said. ''If they want to be arrogant, there's no law that prevents them from that. What I would do is strongly take issue with the point of view that they are expressing when they do that.''

Detroit Tigers pitcher Justin Verlander has come out against the national anthem protests and the Black Lives Matter movement.
Verland tweeted out his criticism of those protesting the national anthem late Sunday night, and in a single tweet hammered the BLM movement while still expressing his support for all lives mattering.
“Just sang the Canadian national anthem on TBS and we here in America can’t stand together for our anthem. #alllivesmatter #TogetherStronger,” the pitcher in a relationship with model Kate Upton tweeted.
