He's on his way to being the best player in baseball. In his second season and he's only going to keep getting better.

2013 - college player of the year
2014 - minor league player of the year
2015 - rookie of the year
    2016 - MVP?

Cubs move last year keeping him in minors a couple of weeks and out of free agency an additional season damn smart deal.

I don't see another viable option for NL MVP. Cubs are running away with the best record in the league and Bryant is their star player. I'd be shocked that even if he doesn't hit more than 35 dingers this year (32 already) and keeps his average north of .285 he doesn't run away with the award.

Yeah. They've got him for the next 5 seasons (through 2021) for virtually nothing. The value is off the charts. I'd like to see them reward him with a big extension though, even early this offseason.

If he only hits 35 and .285 that means a pretty severe slump the rest of the way. Not likely. He's the leader, but long way to go. Rizzo could still edge him.

Still seems kind of soft to me. I'd like to see him come through with clutch hits, not batting practice off scrubs.

You haven't been paying attention to his first two seasons. Last season he was 2nd in NL in game-winning RBI's with several walkoffs. His numbers elevate w/RISP.

Not sure what you mean by soft. Never misses games. Always hustles. He's just quiet and modest, not a loudmouth. His play speaks for him. Guy is a flat out winner with a killer work ethic. He picks things in offseason to improve on and then does it. Look for him to be the MJ of baseball. No shitting that I think he could end up one of the best hitters of all time. Right there with his role model Ted Williams.

Good recent fangraphs article on Bryant.

Yesterday, Kris Bryant did what he’s best known for; hit the crap out of the baseball. In the Cubs 9-6 victory over the Brewers, Bryant went 5 for 5 with a double and a pair of home runs…

Well if he wants to sniff a guy like Ted Williams he might want to work on hitting when it actually matters, in the playoffs. A.176 with 12 big whiffers isn't going to get it done.

Well Ted Williams only appeared in the playoffs once and he hit .200 with no HR.

Kris Bryant is going to get plenty of playoff chances that Williams never had. He will get it done.

I think MJ would have better numbers than Bryant this year. Your takes on Bryant did not age well. Very good player but won't even sniff the HOF.

Dude ain't that good. Not even a top 3 player on his own team, much less his division, much much less his league. MLB forget it.

                                                            he'll have a breakout year in 2021 or 2022

the talent is there, and he has an amazing work ethic, he just needs a healthy season where he gets in a groove and he'll hit 50-60 hr's

but I know that Cubs fans have been disappointed with his output the last few years compared to the hype.

but a quiet 3.6 WAR last year ain't too shabby
