The wife of a corrections officer with the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office was arrested Tuesday on prostitution and drug charges.
Elizabeth Erpelding, 32, of Green Township, is the wife of Sgt. James Erpelding, who has been with the Sheriff's Office since Dec. 1998, a spokesperson said.
Pending the results of the criminal investigation, Sgt. Erpelding was placed on paid administrative leave, which a spokesperson said was consistent with normal protocol.
On Tuesday, police said Mrs. Erpelding engaged in "manual stimulation" in exchange for $185, according to court documents.
Then on Wednesday, police said she possessed metal spoons with residue "being used in the preparation of heroin for injection." The spoons were found in her bedroom closet.
Police said syringes were also found in a shoebox sitting on the floor of the closet and in a clutch purse, also in the closet.
Mrs. Erpelding was charged with one count of prostitution, one count of illegal use or possession of drug paraphernalia and two counts of possessing drug abuse instruments.
All the charges accrued a bond amount of $3,000.
Mrs. Erpelding is expected in court again Wednesday at 1 p.m. in front of Hamilton County Municipal Court Judge Heather S. Russell.
