Was looking at it. Might do it.

What is the severity down there? Anything comparable to Katrina?

Hey, did LSU have to move their fall football practices elsewhere?
Where's the fuckin power box, Carol?

just let the government print some more money that isn't really backed up with anything like 95% of the paper money that is already out there in circulation and let them hand it out to these people.

I'm in the city, about an hour out from Baton Rouge ...I hear some of it is just as bad as they're saying and other parts didn't get hit as bad... There's nuisances like snakes and alligators running around the place flooded out of their natural habitats ..alligator farmers and the city are having a field day with that.. Was thinking of going down there myself, I usually go to the lauberge casino ...very interesting, last 2x I went the city made the news, last time it was the cops shooting, this time it was the flood... I drove home in those rains on the i10 ...did see one lady mash up her car other then that nothing...no traffic, then later heard how bad it got... I don't know what places are closed off and what places aren't .. But just call in to the city of Baton Rouge and find out what you can do if you were thinking about coming through... A lot of people are just bringing goods to the shelters, toys, clothes, and food stuff like that..

I live in between No and BR, about 20 minutes from hammond/Ponchatoula who got it just as bad as Denham and BR.

I can give any info if needed.

BTW maybe some are unaware but there were about 1500 motorists stuck on i-12 for over 24 hrs last week and it was shut down for 60+ miles for 2 days from the Covington exit all the way to BR. Helicopters were dropping food and water and the National Guard were the only ones able to get ppl off the interstate.

Thx for the info, boys. Trying to figure out best way to help.

If it's hard to navigate the area, sometimes a cash donation is best. I know Red Cross has a solid reputation of putting cash to good use.

Yea Chucky, kind of like a " gotta know " situation ...these boys have boats, know the area, and can deal with alligators ... Most folks can't and no one expects them to... If you want to drive down a uhaul of a bunch of stuff that your neighbors and yourself want to donate, help some people salvage what's left or just send in some donations ...would be a big help bud, awesome thread ..and congrats on the third place today...

No i live near the tchefuncte river on the Northshore madisonville/Covington area (so technically not in between BR and No geographically but time and distance wise, maybe BR is a little farther). Anyways we had it bad in the March floods but nothing this time luckily.

Let's not forget about our animals too. The St Tammany humane society has done a great job taking most of the animals from flooded shelters and adopting or fostering them out.

There are plenty of areas that can be gotten to by car etc that need help. A lot of these houses need to be stripped and gutted and you gotta be young strong and able to withstand this brutal sub tropical heat here.

The worst thing is about 80% of ppl who had substantial losses had no flood insurance..

Volunteers Needed to Muck Out Homes

Baton Rouge (August 22, 2016) – The Governor’s Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness is urging anyone available to volunteer to help clean and muck out homes with flood damage. If you are able to help with this process, please contact www.volunteerlouisiana.gov. Any organization or church group is also encouraged to sign up. Tens of thousands of homes across the region have been impacted by the floods. Families need this type of support in order to continue the massive recovery process. The volunteer support in Louisiana has been tremendous. We need to continue this effort to help our neighbors during their time of need.
