Kranken your missing the point there are tons of different trade unions....they all have specific tasks....and areas of work....my Union is a very specialty craft involves dangerous hard work...every thing can and will kill you very quickly...here is the thing the employer has absolutely 0 choice in the hiring process...federally funded jobs require a certain number of minority and women hours....its mandated....I'm not saying a women can't do the job I have worked around many women who were equipped to do the job I'm talking about the policies in place that are federally mandated to require a certain number of minority and women hours on a project that put the unions in a terrible position to come up with these numbers to keep the contractor happy....any minority women can walk up to any construction Union they choose and automatically have a job making starting wages at 22 dollars an hour full dental and Health benefits based 100% percent on there gender and color of skin now my question to you is how is this fair and equal? When you have men who are more then qualified who cannot get in and wait for sometimes years on a waiting list to get there foot in the door.....this is precisely what is wrong with this country and if you somehow disagree with that you obviously have 0 common sense...btw when the contractor calls for a employee from the union hall and there not calling out by name they get who ever is at the top of the list....but they can call and say they need a women or minority....now how in the hell is this fair? This is all craft construction union rules that I know iron workers laborers electricians, plumbers, carpenters, and piledrivers...
