    Antonio Gallardo the jockey
The guy is a top jockey when do you think he will get regular rides at belmont, saratoga, churchill downs the best race tracks in USA.

he seems to be content to stay at the 2nd level tracks. does dominate at those venues though. probably doesn't want to desert his agent, trainers, and owners and go big time.

Where is his main track right now? Very very difficult to break on the New York circuit

he's been around forever and also shows disinterest in going big time. labored at mountaineer for years before they went downhill and enjoys oaklawn, remington and generally stays in the midwest for the most part. tough to desert your business and go up a level only to not get that many mounts and find out your former connections have committed to another rider.

Think you are underestimating how hard it is to break in to NY. Think Deshawn dipped his foot into better tracks and got smoked. Eurico Da Silva was crushing Woodbine when he tried to move to NY and couldn't even win at the inner.

Only guys that have made the transition without dropping off a cliff recently are Rosario and J Alvarado. Both dominated in Cali and Arlington/Hawthorne.

The best path to succeeding in NY is to start there as an apprentice where you will build connections from guys that like to use bugs. Then when you lose your bug you still got your foot in the door if you are any good.

fits in well in the currently weaker monmouth jockey colony. guy does tampa bay in the winter and monmouth and pid in the summer. he has found his niche and makes a lot of money despite not riding at the top tracks.

There's a lot to be said for a jock who can stay put and beat everybody. Russel Baze chose to do that instead of trotting around the country trying to win on the biggest circuits. A lot can go wrong doing that. I'm sure he has few regrets in retirement.

parker quickly retreated back to the midwest to reclaim his business. da silva went to ny on a lark (no winter racing in canada) had no intention of staying. rosario was established in calif and made a lateral move to ny. alvarado left a dismal situation in il and did ok initially in ny but has tailed off the last couple of years. but he is firmly there. most know to just stay put if they are getting good mounts.

There is a reason 9 of the top 10 jocks by earnings are in NY right now. If any jock could succeed in NY they would.

the top 10 trainers have locked up the top 10 jocks for the most part. why bother to try to break in to a tight jock colony if you are doing very well by staying put in your local venue.

he's by far the best out there now and he is entrenched in the big money circuits.

Yep. The track is such an interesting place. Drank with a few jockeys after the races and the shit that is proposed from them from gamblers is crazy.
