US Appeals Court Denies New Jersey Sports Betting Once Again
Sorry for the copy & paste.

A U.S. appeals court ruled in favor of the four major professional sports leagues and the NCAA on Tuesday, denying New Jersey's quest to legalize sports betting.

The U.S. Third Circuit Court of Appeals in Philadelphia found that New Jersey's most recent attempt to bring Las Vegas-style sports betting to its casinos and horse racing tracks violated the Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act (PASPA), the 24-year-old federal prohibition on state-sponsored sports betting.

The court battle between New Jersey and the sports leagues has been ongoing for years. In January 2012, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie signed legislation that authorized the state to offer legal sports betting. The state got as far as posting sports betting regulations on the gaming enforcement's website in the spring of 2012, before the leagues filed suit.

See commercials and news casts about the state lottery all day. What a double standard. At least there is some thought that goes into picking a sports winner, compared to a computer picking six losing numbers for you.

Most people who buy lottery tickets are whites.

I used to think it was a protection racket for Vegas but then I realized that most of the Vegas casinos have several casinos and properties in other states where general gambling(not sports) is legal. So this is a big clusterfuck. I don't understand why the Vegas corporate casinos don't want added revenue via sportsbooks from their casinos in other states on the East Coast, in the Midwest and South etc. They're literally just giving money away to the black market in every state besides Nevada. Then I thought well it kinda makes sense from the perspective that they don't want books in states with pro teams. Then I realized Nevada is getting an NHL team and maybe an NFL team soon. So again the whole thing makes no sense for anyone. The only people who are happy are locals and offshore industry cause they'll continue to get all the revenue these corporate casinos would get otherwise if it were legal in all 50 states.

Too bad our forefathers didn't say we had the right to bare dice. Or the right to pursue life, liberty and a straight flush.

So let me ask something then cause maybe I don't fully understand all of this. Let's put this a different way. The way I see it, by these corporate casinos not offering sports books in other states, it would be like if Walmart or Target decided they would sell a popular product of theirs but only in Nevada stores and no other states. Why the hell wouldn't Walmart/Target want the added revenue from that product in all of their stores and not just the ones in Nevada? That's how I see this, am I wrong?

To add to this further, Vegas used to come from the point of view that they didn't want gambling on sports in states with pro teams. I'm pretty sure the NFL and MLB said this too at one point. Well that's gone now cause Vegas has an NHL team and maybe NFL team too in future. So where's the logic in that now?
