More than 20 people in Germany have received medical treatment after a man with an axe and a knife went on the rampage on a train, German media say.

They include three seriously injured people, one with minor injuries and 14 who are in shock.

A police operation is under way in Heidingsfeld, part of the city of Wurzburg in Germany.

A police spokesman at the scene said (in German) that the attacker was shot dead while fleeing.

A journalist with the national broadcaster ZDF tweeted that the attacker was a 17-year-old Afghan man.

The train line between Wurzburg-Heidingsfeld and Ochsenfurt has been closed.

If this guy had a gun there would be mutlitple casualties no question, he wuold have easily shot a few people, even if guns would be allowed and there were a few people carrying . Anyone who does not understand this is just completely clueless. We had a similiar incident where a mentally sick guy was taking hostages in a local cinema. Again there were no casualties because he did not have any gun with him. This would have turned into a a bloodbath if this happened in the usa, just remember about the batman shooter a few years ago.
I dont understand how many people have to die until the American people realize that the current laws encourage this kind of mass shootings. Im glad that i do not have to set one foot into the US if i dont want to, but every innocent live which is lost is one too many.
