The Minnesota Twins announced Monday that executive vice president and general manager Terry Ryan was relieved of his duties after five seasons. On the heels of a surprisingly successful 2015 season that saw the Twins win 83 games and finish second in the AL Central, Minnesota took a major step back this year and currently sits 33-58 and last place in the division."While disappointed we were unable to bring Minnesota a third World Championship, I leave the GM post with immense pride in being part of the Twins organization for the better part of three decades," Ryan said in a statement.Ryan took over as the Twins GM in November 2011, marking his second stint in the position after serving as GM from 1994-2007. Under his direction since 2011, the team has gone 318-421 (.430)."Since joining our organization as a player in 1972, Terry had been a dedicated, loyal and respected member of the Minnesota Twins family," Twins owner and CEO Jim Pohlad said. "The decision to part ways with Terry was difficult, painful and not obvious. We are extremely grateful and very thankful to Terry."Twins vice president and assistant general manager Rob Antony will take over Ryan's duties on an interim basis. The organization doesn't plan on waiting until the offseason to begin a search for a new GM as candidates will begin receiving consideration for the job in the coming weeks, according to Jon Morosi of FOX Sports.

Been with the organization for a long time. Kind of surprised this happened in the middle of the season.

"Talent" on that team not so talented. Santana needs to have plastic surgery to remove that permanent smirk he has on his face all the time. Hell I'd be smiling too if they paid me 13.5M to go 3-8.
