Which of the two's efforts in that regard would generate significant opposition?

from Huffington Post: Bernie Sanders stated, “I’ll be damned if kids in the state of Vermont — or taxpayers in the state of Vermont — have to defend the royal Saudi family, which is worth hundreds of billions of dollars.” Only Bernie Sanders won the Congressional Award from the VFW and only Sanders foreshadowed the consequences of Iraq, while Clinton cast her vote with “conviction.”

Most importantly, Bernie Sanders addressed the repercussions of perpetual wars during the debates. While Trump and Clinton compete to sound more militant, only Sanders mentions the amputees from both recent wars. Sadly, Trump and Clinton are actually similar candidates, especially on foreign policy.

Bernie, having now thrown in with Clinton, so much for principles.

Neither one will institute a draft. With the current economic problems in America and the military being open to women and gays, there's no need for a draft. The military has plenty of people beating down the door to get in, looking for pay and benefits, free college, student loan repayment, free housing etc. They actually have so many people that they've been doing drawdowns and kicking people out to spare on expenses. A lot of people joining have no other options. They're massively in debt from college and can't get a job in their field. Tough economic times for current generation unless they were born into a wealthy family, which almost everyone wasn't. There's still a lot of GI Joe type guys and tomboyish type girls out there that all they want to do is join the military also. Never been a better time to be a military recruiter.

Agree 100%, education is huge and a lot of kids want out of bad area's as well and the military is always their option. No draft needed.

Everyone should be in the military at the age of 18 for 1 year.

Absurd. Total waste in so many ways. 90% of the people there wouldn't want to do. Like state-financed babysitting.

AMEN AMEN- teach these punks what the cost of freedom costs -and let the draft dodgers leave--and for the now party-and gender equity supporters have their dreams come true-- do you think those who were drafted wanted to be drafted--

Say a Fired up Donald Trump at a pep rally in Charleston, South Carolina.

Trump laid out some of his future plans to take our country back from all the immigrants who keep stealing jobs. He has a solution by sending them to War to fight Isis. He says this will happen on his first day in office.

You need some discipline and there is no better way for this than for the opportunity to die for your country. It will show you that your vote meant something. So to all you guys willing to put your children or yourself at risk than remember these 3 words.DIE MUTHER FLUCKER. On the bright side you can visit mo or seeweed in canada

Well then i guess trump won't get your vote. Thank you for helping keep a narcissist out of office. I'm probably 6 years older than you. It is a shame that we went from a nation of imigrants to a nation of corporations. Trump says he isn't for tpp but ryan is happy with his pick of pence. Wonder why that is.

Donald is out of touch with reality. Obama has kept us far safer than Bush ever did and he did it without nearly as many boots on the ground. This is just Donald's way of whistling to the military industrial complex, he needs the donations.

there would be a organized boycott if they tried to institute a draft again. no one would answer the draft notice and there would be nothing they could do about it. something like if you get a letter from a collection agency. same deal.

Not officially but will he be in the White House? Will he have influence on decisions being made?

It can be argued that the expansion of the military industrial complex and "killing for oil" began to expand exponentially once the draft was terminated.

It allowed for a population that is much more apathetic and tolerant of war.

Wasn't it Nixon that took away the draft? Think about that.

One difference between Bill Clinton and Donald Trump. Bill was not a draft dodger, Donald was a draft dodger. But trumptards never let facts get in the way.
