This is great! Dombrowski does not fukk around. They desperately needed a legit starter. With their offense, they can win a title right now... makes sense to give up a prospect for a piece of the puzzle.

Another left handed pitcher in a division that tees off on left handed pitching

got to like their initiative, but probably not the right guy

That was my initial knee jerk reaction, however they are not reaching the promised land with Clay Bucholz and Joe Kelly, they needed to be replaced, now Pomeranz is not Mad-Bum or Kershaw, but he's having a better season then LH Hamels and LH Lester.

How Pomeranz adjusts from pitching from the Grand Canyon (PetCo) to the band box (Fenway) remains to be seen.

Oh, by the way, the Brad Ziegler move was a nice signing.

Ya this is Pomeranz what, 5th team? Getting traded to the Rockies set him back a few years. He's finally got a 3rd pitch now and has improved his k-rate as a starter.

Big upgrade over the Eduardo & bucholtz type hamburgers. If Price can stop serving meatballs, I think it could be a piece of puzzle even in that division

Of course he is. Were the Padres going to deal a quality starter who's 27 for a can of tuna fish?

Again, Sox offense is Top 5 in MLB right now, they can win a championship... but their rotation had dogshit at 4 and 5, and even 1, 2, and 3 aren't a sure thing. This had to be done. We'll see if Pomeranz is up to snuff with the bright lights on him, but my guess is Dombrowski wouldn't have done this without some due diligence there.

Really far down the road. He's young and throws hard. Right now I think he's a little over rated but that doesn't mean he's not a solid prospect

My concern is that Pomeranz has never faced a full 200 inning season let alone extra play off innings on top of that.

Yeah, it's the only move right now though. They tried to develop the talent they had a year or two ago, and it didn't work out. No other choice.

They beat the market by getting this done ASAP. Not a lot of starters out there for the taking. Worth a shot for both teams.

There is such little starting pitching talent it there on the trading market

you'll se some truly crappy pitchers traded the net 16 days that will seem like head scratchers

chang of scenery cand be pitching coaches can do wonders though.

No really, he was a young prospect with the Dodgers that the Expos acquired, had some monster seasons there before Boston, great move for them back then
