Yeah, but such things could linger. I think another massive drop could occur if they decide to do the hard fork (whatever it means). People will sell off and be glad for something. If they decide to go this way the whole DAO concept is dead.

I wouldn't want to be stuck holding the bag when halving is over

Completely disagree. Some have a lot invested in this. If it drops 100 in 1 day imagine a month. Yes the volatility is expected but some ppl might want to get out before it gets too low or at least keep up with current news, trends, forecasts.

Bitcoin might not even exist in a month. Certainly different than your typical stock or mutual fund IMO

I know, I have a lot invested myself and I would not even consider selling until I see what happens in the first few days after the halving on July 10th. THAT would be the time to start tracking more closely.

Bitfinex went dark for a while causing a price drop.

China normally controls the bitcoin market. CNY can't be traded at Bitfinex but when something happens with a major exchange, it causes panic everywhere.

Bitfinex is the biggest trader of USD.
