When free agency opens, Durant is meeting with Rockets, Mavs and Celtics only. Close friends say he is going to stay in OKC.

Same report said Celtics are long shots and the Mavs must be in play for one other star for him to consider them. He said the Rockets were a great possibility before the season but this past season really makes them a long shot now. There is also another crazy rumor of him teaming up with Conley and Horford and them playing in either Houston or Dallas together. The Mavs would have to clear some room but Houston has the flexibility to make it work. His inner circle said he will not consider the Lakers because of their lack of talent. Said if they had any sort of competing roster, that they would be in play bc he lives there in the off season and really loves the LA lifestyle.

He will re-up in OKC for 2 years with a player option after next season. OKC can return a mostly intact core group with a season of experience playing for Donovan. If they don't produce he can opt out and hit a bigger payday when cap balloons in 2017. If he believes OKC can contend for the next 5-6 years he will sign with them for long term. An extra $30-$50 million in guaranteed contract money is nothing to sneeze at.

I don't see Houston as a viable team for him. Celts and Wizards have far more upside for him if he was to leave OKC.

No state income tax if he makes it his primary residence. Will save him a nice chunk over career. Plus he can afford to invest in real estate.

If kd signs for houston or dallas he should be hung in okc downtown. Smart players stay with original franchise and get it right.

Kevin Durant not considering Rockets in free agency, sources say

Durant also is widely expected to take a handful of face-to-face recruiting meetings with a select group of interested teams, with the Golden State Warriors and San Antonio Spurs regarded by many rival executives as the two biggest threats to lure Durant away from the Thunder.

Durant is going to go OKC 1+1 (player option)
decline 2nd year and do new max under new CBA for 2017-2018

Under current NBA salary rules, a player’s maximum contract varies based on NBA experience. With nine years in the league, Durant will be eligible for the middle tier this summer — 30% of the salary cap, which still comes in at a large amount thanks to the cap spike. However, like LaMarcus Aldridge could have last summer, the 2013-14 NBA MVP can secure a substantially larger contract by playing out his 10th NBA season to reach the 35% tier. That motivation strengthens because of the expectation that the salary cap will substantially increase again in 2017 — and the discussion of larger max contracts under a renegotiated Collective Bargaining Agreement that could take effect next summer.

Absolutely no reason for him to leave OKC...they can pay him as well as anybody else. He is playing with the most talented guard in the league. At some point Silver will give OKC the green light to finally beat the brakes off GSW as Durant was clearly forced to throw the series this year...Houston is a Cesspool of mediocrity and Dallas is a one trick Pony...Boston is too racist of a city...they dun deserve Durant...He will stay in OKC..

BTW - they are saying he is NOT even going to meet with Golden State. Not interested in gravy training a title. Rockets/Mavs are getting first crack followed by Celtics. His crew said 95% shot he stays in OKC.

One other thing - Mike Conley is telling people around him that he is signing with the Rockets.

Dwight is 50/50 on leaving Houston but if he does will consider Charlotte and Indiana.
